This was the first layout featuring the sink peninsula on the living room side. This created a "coffee bar" next to the fridge, which the customers really wanted.
But this layout created traffic flow issues: the feeling of having to "walk around" the sink peninsula to get to the living room.
This view clearly shows the awkward traffic pattern leading to the living room.
Although the customers are huge coffee lovers, they made the sacrifice of placing the sink peninsula on the “coffee bar” side to improve overall functionality.
A compromise, yes, but significantly more functional. A bonus to this layout is that it created a buffet counter, perfect for serving guests when hosting.
